خلاصه مقاله:
As fundamental concerns in sociolinguistics suggest, language varieties and differences can mark a borderline on societal norms, conventions, and classes. On a global scale, the same concern may be raised as to how cultures with distant levels of power respond to each others’ cultural and literary capital. As far as the studies concentrated on relations of power signify, there is always the assumption that the norms and standards of the superior cultures tend to dominate and suppress the aspects of difference in the less technologically advanced societies. This tendency to control or eliminate cross-cultural difference characterizes by and large the very mechanism of colonialism. Comparable to transferring technology, cultural and literary values, too, are used as a tool by the colonizer to expand and consolidate its presence and integrity within the infrastructures of the colonized territories. As a movement toward self-discovery for the formerly colonized and presently third world countries, postcolonialism was basically introduced in 1960’s and 1970’s with many important implications for cultural, political, and literary values. This movement had a significant effect on translation as an important and perhaps one of the most dynamic sources of transferring values cross-culturally. Naturally, a new line of studies began to emerge in translation theory, establishing a richly influential literature. The purpose of the present study is to primarily trace the logic of colonial and postcolonial incentives, and to highlight the fundamental considerations in postcolonial literature in translation. Considering the size and significance of the topic both in literature and translation studies, an inquiry as such this can help researchers and the scientific community to have a clear picture of the whole logic and theoretical basis of postcolonial literature. The study will also provide some productive insights into how a historically profound literature, like the Persian literature, may preserve its values in the course of globalization. The study also emphasizes the increasing rate of expansion and significance that translation theory is experiencing as well as the ways that this branch of language studies can contribute to the understanding of other related fields of language and human studies
