GdBa2Cu3O7-X (Gd123) nanowires and HoBa2Cu3O7-x (Ho123) nanorods were synthesized using a modifiedsol-gel method, in the presence of benzene tricarboxylic acid as a surfactant. SEM images showed that the shape ofparticles can be controllable by using the amount of the benzene tricarboxylic. As a result, both samples were informedin one dimension. Magnetic susceptibility measurements showed clear diamagnetic behaviour below the criticaltemperature of around 91.5 K in the nanowires and nanorods, which is comparable to that in the bulk ones. The asproduced nanostructures were also characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility was also found to be extremely insensitive to thestrength of the applied magnetic field.
