In this study, an assessment of the wind power density evaluated for 5 cities located in Golestan province in Iran. Under study cities are Gorgan (1982-2012), Gonbad-e Kavous (1990-2012), Maraveh Tappeh (1991-2012), Aliabad Katoul (2003-2012) and Bandar Turkman (2005-2012). Yearly statistical data have been collected from meteorology stations. Yearly data at 10 meters height have been measured and the recording interval was 3 hours. The wind power density measurements were performed by using the Weibull probability distribution function. Weibull function shape and scale parameters are calculated using energy pattern factor. According to the results, the maximum wind power density obtained in the Bandar Turkman city and the minimum was in Gonbad-e Kavous.
