خلاصه مقاله:
Polyamide-6 (PA-6) and polycarbonate (PC) both provide good properties in various applications. However, they present some negative aspects that are in some ways asymmetrical:PA-6 is strongly resistant to most solvents while PC is not; PC is insensitive to moisture and durable to a variety ofweathering conditions while PA-6 greatly suffers from humidity. Thus, PA-6/PC blends are anticipated to complement each disadvantage while maintaining the goodproperties of each polymer. But surprisingly, their blend is thermodynamically immiscible and incompatible, irrespective of the temperature and composition range [1, 2]. It has also been revealed that the mechanical properties of PA-6/PC blends are somewhat lower than the neat polymers due toinsufficient interfacial adhesion. Microscopic characterization has shown domains of clearly segregated homophases and voids between the two polymers. This work aims to investigate the effect of using various amounts of maleated poly [styrene-b-(ethylene-co-butylene)-b-styrene] triblock copolymer (SEBS-g-MA) and unmodified SEBS (unSEBS) on the impact strength of incompatible polymer blends of polyamide-6 (PA-6) and polycarbonate (PC).
