Background: Goal of this research is to study and prioritize factors affecting efficiency of physical education course of the secondary schools from the viewpoints of physical education teachers and principals of Tonekabon schools in educational year 2012-2014. Materials and methods: The research method is of descriptive –survey type. Statistical population of the research includes all teachers of physical education and principals of Tonekabon schools and statistical sample includes 65 teachers of physical education (32 women and 33 men) and 80 principals (32 women and 48 men) who were selected with purposive sampling method. To collect information, researcher-made questionnaire was used based on Sajadi’s quality improvement model 2011 and face validity of the questionnaire was confirmed according to the experts’ view (α=0.95) and its reliability was measured. To test the research hypotheses, nonparametric chi-square test, Mann-Whitney, Freidman and Kruskal–Wallis tests were used withspss19 software. Results and discussions: Results indicate 10 main factors affecting efficiency of physical education course of the secondary school from the viewpoint of female and male physical education teachers according to priority and they include attitude, equipment, budget, experience of physical education teachers, and specialty of physical education teachers, curriculum, educational content, teaching method, evaluation and educational goals. Conclusion: It is recommended that this research be conducted
