Papillary thyroid carcinoma is the most common malignancy of thyroid. Although some molecular and biochemical markers with predictive value for recurrence and metastasis in thyroid cancer have been identified, but controversy about them still remains. Recent Studies on some of the human malignancies show that expression ofcertain cell cycle regulators has prognostic beneficiary. We studied expression of cylin D1 in papillary thyroid cancer and correlated this with Clinical-histological stage of thetumor. Methods: We evaluated 50 Patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma who had been undergone surgery at Ahvas Imam khomini hospital center between 2003 and 2013.Clinical data were obtained from clinical charts and histopathology report. Immunohistochemistery was performed on formalin – fixed embedded tissue cyclinD1 antibody.The basis of quantitation was on the percent of cells Showing positive nuclear staining. Result: Analysis showed that overexpression of cyclin D1 Predicts lymphnode metastasis (P<0.05). there was a significant correlation between cyclin D1 expression with vascular invasion and size of the tumor. Conclusion: Cyclin D1 expression would allow us identify the subgroup of papillary thyroid carcinoma with Potential of metastasis and aggressive behaviour.
