Surgery in Adult Congenital Heart Disease

Heart operations for repair of congenital lesions are one of the most important fields in cardiac surgery. Survival of patients with congenital heart disease has steadily improved during the past decades. As a result, a growing population of survivors reaches adulthood.Spectrum of congenital heart disease as well as their care is completely different in the adults. Heart lesions in this age group is most commonly secondary disease, however there are some anomalies which diagnosed primarily in adulthood. On the other hand, treatment planning and techniques of operation needs special considerations. This aim can be achieved by a multidisciplinary team working.In this presentation, we try to discuss about the different aspects of adult congenital heart surgery.
