In this age of technology, the Internet rules the world. Everything we see around us is connected. Smart technologies are being introduced in every field of industry and the pharmaceutical industry is one of them, although it is in its infancy. The introduction of Internet of Things (IoT) and big data in the pharmaceutical industry opens its way to many opportunities for growth and development, not only by optimizing the cost of drug production processes or their procurement, but also in providing services to patients. Focused care and customizable drug development for effective patient care.The pharmaceutical industry has not been very progressive in adopting these technologies. And hence, its effects cannot be strongly noticed. This chapter introduces the concept of applying the Internet of Things and Big Data to various areas of the pharmaceutical industry and shows how they all work together. It also familiarizes the reader with all the basic concepts needed to understand and apply analysis to the prepared data. Since most of the data obtained from the pharmaceutical industry is highly unstructured, various methods for dealing with this type of unstructured data are also described in this chapter
