A Study on the Different Corrosion Types in Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCC) of Abadan refinery

In this paper some kinds of corrosion in different devices of fluid catalytic cracking unit (FCC) of Abadan refinery is reported.. FCC is used to crack waxy distillate (Residue of vacuum distillation tower) into light products such as LPG, Gasoline and Gas oil, etc. Depends on the various operation conditions in each part of this unit such as reactor, regenerator and main fractionator tower, various kinds of corrosion have seen.In this paper some kinds of corrosion such as erosion, galvanic corrosion, biological corrosion, general corrosion, under deposit corrosion, stress cracking corrosion (SCC), Fatigue corrosion, pitting and also chocking which can occur in different parts of this unit have explained and for each one, some photos has brought. So, this research can be used as a useful reference to introducing these corrosion types for researchers and engineers.
