تهیه و نگارش فلور ایران، جنس ‭Cousinia‬

In order to prepare the draft of Flora of Iran, the genus Cousinia (Asteraceae, Cardueae) was taxonomically studied. This genus has about 6000 species in the world, mainly has been distributed in Irano-Turaniana and Mediterranean regions. The number of species in Iran due to less exploration, little knowledge and species concept has variously been cited. This project unofficially started about 30 years ago, but officially 5 years ago. Herbarium specimens collected from all over Iran. Several new taxa based on these collections were described. Among them following taxa could be numbered. Cousinia sect. Argenteae, Cousinia argentea, C. barezica, C. gatschsaranica, C. isfahanica, C. kadereitii, C. kermanshahanensis, C. maassoumii, C. mozaffarianii, C. pseudocandolleana, C. sarzehensis, C. sabalanica and etc. Morphologic charcters were directly measured on herbarium specimens and the descriptions of the species were prepared. Key to the sections and the species are presented. Altogether 40 sections, 250 species and 5 hybrids are known from Iran. Key words: Flora, Cousinia, Asteraceae, Cardueae, Iran, Taxonomy.
