چکیده مقاله:
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is the most widely cultivated staple food crop in many countries including Iran. Approximately ۸۸% of Iran is located in arid and semi-arid regions. Water deficit strongly affects the growth of cereal crops and productivity. Therefore, plants under drought stresses, have evolved diverse mechanisms by changing gene expression patterns. In this study,to identify candidate genes associated with defense responses to water deficiency, the transcriptomic profiles of wheat roots in control and drought stressed were compared. RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) technology was used to reveal drought responsive differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in wheat roots. Out of a total of ۶۶ differentially expressed genes, ۲۰ genes were specifically upregulated under drought stress. Gene Ontology analysis of up-regulated DEGs showed the multiple pathways related to defense response, response to stress, response to biotic stimulus, arginine catabolic process, and immune response. The expression levels of five of candidate DEGs was validated by qRT-PCR.
