The removal of air-contaminating gas such as CO۲ was tested using Zeolitic Imidazolate Frame work-۳۰۰ (ZIF-۳۰۰) porous adsorbent. The synthesis of ZIF-۳۰۰ was performed using combinations of Zn and two imidazole sources. The characterization of the synthesized ZIF-۳۰۰ powder was performed utilizing SEM, XRD and CO۲ and N۲ adsorption-desorption isotherms. The result of SEM demonstrates the nano size of these particles which are suitable to be used on large scale in small packs for air treatments. XRD results approved the fabrication of the crystalline structure of the ZIF-۳۰۰ for three samples prepared with different molar ratios of precursors. The result of CO۲ and N۲ adsorption tests showed that the ZIF_۳۰۰ samples especially the sample synthesized with the higher molar ratio of Bmim/meIm is very effective in the sorption of CO۲ in comparison with N۲ in similar operating conditions. This study demonstrates that ZIF-۳۰۰ can be used as a potential adsorbent for air treatment in different applications such as conventional face masks, air purifiers used in domestic areas, etc.
