New Medications In Pain Management

We can consider the topic from two different points: the older and known drugs which recently and newly being used for pain management and the newly manufactured drugs for pain use. The known and common drugs of pain management that we consider daily are: Acetaminophen and NSAIDs , Opioids, Antidepressants, Antiepileptics, Local anesthetic , Complementary and herbal medicine. The known drugs which aren’t known as analgesics but could be used for pain management are Vitamins (B, C, Combination), Propofol, Magnesium, Bisphosphonates, Dexmedetomidine, Benzodiazepines, Lidocaine, IVIG, and Hydration. All of above have their unique limitations, benefits and indications. There are various types and different doses for each of these drugs that may differ from the use other than for pain management. Vitamins B۱and B۲ in combination with cytochrome C may be helpful in treating symptoms of mitochondrial encephalomyopathy in children. Vitamin B۱۲ may be helpful in treating the pain and dysesthesias associated with uremia and hemodialysis. Vitamin C therapy indications are cancer associated pain (cancer pain, metastases, chemotherapy), Virus-Associated Pain (Postherpetic Neuralgia, Chikungunya Viral Disease), Postoperative Pain, Rheumatological/Inflammatory Pain. Propofol use indications are chronic daily headaches, acute migraine headaches and acute postoperative pain. Bisphosphonates can use for CRPS and mechanical back pain. Benzodiazepines aren’t directly analgesics but can use concurrent with other pain medications to affect on pain pathways or perception of pain.Some of the newly manufactured drugs for pain management are benzyloxy-cyclopentyl-adenosine and Orphangesic Forte. Benzyloxy-cyclopentyl-adenosine is a potent and selective newly designated analgesic that is non-addictive in test model systems. It has a unique mode of action and potentially opens a new pipeline for the development of some new analgesic drugs. It Selectively activates G proteins by an adenosine A۱ receptor agonist without cardiorespiratory depression. Orphangesic Forte (Galt Pharmaceuticals) is a combination of orphenadrine citrate, aspirin, and caffeine ۵۰ mg/۷۷۰ mg/۶۰ mg that has received FDA approval and indicated for the relief of mild to moderate musculoskeletal pains.
