Evaluation of the effectiveness of using pulse dose radiofrequency for thetreatment of trigeminal

Introduction: Trigeminal neuralgia is a disease with an incidence of ۴-۱۳ in ۱۰۰۰۰۰ in a year. The incidenceincreases in the elderly, and this disease is known with severe shock-like pain. Pharmacological therapy is thefirst-line therapy of trigeminal neuralgia. If pharmacological therapy is failed, there are different proceduresavailable. Pulse dose radiofrequency is one of these procedures.Purpose: In this study, we evaluate Pulse dose radiofrequency's efficacy as a method in which the pulse'samplitude and width are considered essential variables.Method: This research has been done as a cross-section study on trigeminal neuralgia patients referred to thepain clinic of Amir A`lam hospital in ۲۰۲۰; conservative therapy has failed them; therefore, the cliniciandecided to use pulse dose radiofrequency to reduce their pain.Results: Among ۲۹ patients registered in this period, ۱۵ (۵۱.۸%) were women, and ۱۴ (۴۸.۳%) were men. Themean (±SD) age of the patient was ۵۷.۰۷(±۱۴.۲۶) years. The tow route was interrupted at ۷ (۲۴.۱%) patients.A significant difference exists between the pain score before and after the operation (P-value<۰.۰۰۱).Conclusion: The Pulse dose radiofrequency is a safe and effective therapy for treating trigeminal neuralgiathat can be considered a new way to develop the pulse radiofrequency method.
