چکیده مقاله:

One of the crucial complications related to the use of succinylcholine is pain and muscle cramps after theoperation, which can last for several days and cause severe discomfort in patients. This study investigated theeffect of pregabalin on fasciculation and myalgia after using succinylcholine.MethodThis prospective, double-blind randomized study was conducted after approval by the research and ethicscommittee of the university on a number of ۱۰۰ patients (۵۰ patients in each group), ۲۰ to ۶۰ years old, withAmerican Society of Anesthesiology classes ۱ and ۲ in the operating room. Pregabalin (۳۰۰ mg) and placebo(in the form of capsules) were placed in the same containers and prescribed by a nurse based on a table ofrandom numbers, one and a half hours before transfer to the operating room. Sufficient explanations andtraining were given to the patients about VAS scoring.ResultsThe results obtained from the pain score measurement in the two studied groups showed that the mean painscore in the group receiving pregabalin was lower in the measured times compared to the placebo group, andthis amount was statistically significant. The frequency of fasciculation caused by succinylcholine was ۳۴(۶۸%) in the pregabalin group and ۴۶ (۹۲%) in the placebo group (p=۰.۰۰۳). According to the T-TESTstatistical test, there is a significant difference in the amount of morphine consumption between the two studygroups (P=۰.۰۱).ConclusionThis study showed that pregabalin ۳۰۰ mg was effective in reducing fasciculation and postoperative myalgia inpatients treated with succinylcholine compared to placebo.
