Intelligent Methods in Phishing Website Detection:Current Challenges

Today, with the ease of access to the Internet andthe development of online businesses, the number of users in theweb environment and, consequently, cybercriminals areincreasing every day. Therefore, security is crucial not only forInternet users but also for web owners. One of the most severethreats in the web environment is phishing, which refers to afraudulent act to obtain the confidential information of Internetusers and is often carried out by forging a legitimate website anddirecting users to visit it. In recent years, the number of phishingwebsites has rapidly increased and galvanized many researchersto provide countermeasures, among which intelligent solutions(machine learning-based) are more effective. However, there arestill various issues that these methods face in detecting phishingwebsites and need to be addressed for directing future works. Tothis end, this paper first presents the current challenges increating intelligent models for phishing website detection andthen discusses the limitations of some of these approaches.
