Taxonomy of Intelligent Transportation Systems (VANET): A Survey

For last years, the evolution of new issues has incited a great development ofthe transportation system. In this paper, we discuss ingredients of ITS (intelligenttransportation system) that are inter-vehicle communication (IVC) or what can callvehicular ad hoc networks (VANET), which are special type of MANET. We willsurvey the main issues relevant to VANET in detail with providing a conceptualmodel for the overall taxonomy. Also detail applications comparison,characteristics and properties of vanet projects and applications are given. Mobilitymodels are benefit to research area, so their main features are discussed. Theconsortiums relatives of these systems are introduced. Whole protocol type’sclassification with their common using protocols is proposed and analysis for themain relative ones provided. Also some suggestions for routing protocols, datadiffusion, mobility models, media access control protocols, and security arediscussed. The investigation will try to answer to future relative attributes andlimitations.
