Platelets transfusion in neonates admitting at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Imam Reza Hospital

چکیده مقاله:

IntroductionNewborns receive more transfusion than other ages.There are numerous Indications for newborns transfusion The transfusion of platelets is indicated for the prophylaxis and therapy of bleeding in patients with thrombocytopenia or with primary or secondary functional disorders of platelets With regards to performing various platlet transfusion. we decided to study the frequency of platlet transfusions in hospitalized infants at Imam Reza Hospital. Methods:we choosed 100 infants hospitalizing in intensive care unit of Imam Reza Hospital and received platelets The information of pateints including gestational age, birth weight the primary cause of hospitalization were recorded by a hand-made cheek list. Statistical analysis performed using spss version 16 software and a p-value of less than 0/05 was statistically significant.Results:The study showed the primary causes of hospitalization were hyaline membrane disease , asphyxia and cyanosis respectively .The mean of gestational age was 31/6±3/6 week, the mean of birth weight was 1581/9±723/8 gram. The mean number of transfusion of platelet wase1/39 ± 0/8 times.Also our study showed that there was no relationship between the sex of the infant and platlet transfusion (p value = 0/76 ). Our study showed that people who had lower 5-minute Apgar scores had higher transfusion number of platelet (p value= 0/039).). Conclusion: This study showed that lowe APGAR score increased platlate transfusionBut pateints gestational age and birth weight had not relation to frequency of platlet transfusion
