The Impact of social media on Anxiety and Personal Hygiene Related to COVID-۱۹Pandemic in Pregnant Women

Objective: According to previous studies, several factors play a rolein creating anxiety and observing personal hygiene due to the use ofsocial media in different sections of society. Hereby, the aim of thisstudy was to investigate the impact of social media on the level ofanxiety and personal health related to covid-۱۹ in pregnant mothers.Methods: In this descriptive-cross-sectional study, ۱۰۰ pregnantwomen were enrolled in the study. Then, an online questionnairewas sent to participants. The questionnaire consisted of ۴ sections,demographic characteristics, questions related to personal hygiene,health anxiety, and the use of social media. Finally, two questionswere given for self-declaration. Data analysis was performed usingSPSS۱۶. P<۰.۰۵ was considered significant.Results: The mean±SD of participants’ age was ۲۷.۷۷±۵.۸۷. Thedata showed that the mean±SD score of personal hygiene andanxiety were ۱۵.۸۱±۲.۳۲ and ۱۹.۵۹±۸.۲۷; respectively. It indicates alevel of high hygiene and moderate anxiety. In terms of time spent,the average anxiety score between the groups was significant[p=۰.۰۰۲], so that people who spent more time in virtual spaces hadhigher anxiety. Pearson's correlation coefficient showed asignificant relationship between the self-declaration anxiety scoreand the anxiety score obtained from the questionnaire [p<۰.۰۰۱,r=۰.۴۲]. Also, there was no significant relationship between selfdeclarationpersonal hygiene scores and the score obtained from thequestionnaire [P=۰.۴۸, r=۰.۰۷].Conclusions: This study showed that social media use can increasethe level of hygiene and anxiety related to covid-۱۹ in pregnantmothers.
