Sustainable transport planning: Estimating the optimal proportionin the using of transportation modes to reduce ecological footprint

چکیده مقاله:

The ever-increasing growth of Sanandaj population has increased the intro-urbanvehicles, which causes the traffic congestion as the main problem in Sanandaj.Although in recent years some urban development plans have been done to reduceproblems based on the public transportation, but they aren’t pay attentionconsiderable success.in this regard, this paper tries to mitigate current problems andto enhance environmental conditions of Sanandaj.to do this, ecological footprintbased on analytical-descriptive method is main approach of the paper to evaluate thesustainability of each mode of urban transportation in Sanandaj over 2012, and topropose optimal proportion of each mode in 2027.the results show that maximumrate of ecological footprint in 2012 relates to mini-bus and its minimum rate relatesto motorcycle. The comparison of urban transportation ecological footprint whit theinternational standards show, except the bus, other transportation modes have higherlevel on ecological footprint in Sanandaj. Therefore, regarding to the obtainedpopulation estimation about 585437 for Sanandaj in 2027, and based on theecological footprint evaluation, the rate of each transportation vehicles such as bus,mini-bus, taxi, private car and motorcycle in 2027 are about 54.26, 1.04, 27.28,15.97 and 1.45 percent respectively that is equal to 40382, 766, 20303, 11887 and1078 people.
