A Structural Health Monitoring System for Storage Tanks by Using Fiber Optic Sensor

storage tanks are always under different hazards such as corrosion and leaking . In this paper new method of monitoring on storage tanks is performed . As a fiber optic sensor , fiber bragg grating FBG is used to monitor corrosion in storage tanks. Ansys software is used to simulate corrosion on bottom plate and its effect on fiber bragg grating. optiwave software is used to obtain sensor response to applied deformation and temperature variantion. it can be seen that by using FBG any corrosion in the form of pitting and leaking due to temperature variation can be detected.
