Background: COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect the human respiratory and wasdiscovered in December, 2019. In emergency challenges such as pandemics, public educationis so important for breaking the chain of disease transmission. Most of the people arebombarded with different information through different social media, but it is important thatwhat information is appropriate to their needs. This subject helps to increase people'sparticipation in the prevention of disease.Material and Methods: This study is mix method survey and was conducted in five phasesincluding 1-literature review, 2-qualitative study to identify the important public educationalneeds in COVID-19 disease, 3-designing a simple questioner, 4-fulfilling the questioner byparticipants 5-analysis the obtained quantitative data.Results: results showed that the first week of spreading COVID-19 in Iran, 493 participants needsome information about avoiding the stress and promising news. 378 participants also need to knowabout the ranking of our city in Corona epidemic, 366 people want to know about prevention and selfcareways. At sixth weeks of COVID-19 and in phase 2 of study, the information requirements inparticipants were changed. 576 participants want to know about method and process of treatment, thesecond priority of information was prevention and self-care methods and the third one was thedecreasing ways for stress caused by COVID-19 news.Conclusions: This community-based study demonstrated that all people in all days of a pandemicneeds a lot of information in different types from preventive data to avoid stress caused byinformation and knowledge in pandemics. Further effective health education based on communityeducational needs assessment is urgently needed for best planning in public awareness and continuingactivities to cut the chain of COVID-19 in the world.
