RMS response of above ground pipelines to multi-component seismic excitation is calculated using spectral method of analysis in frequency domain. The random ground motion is assumed to be either stationary or non-stationary process which is characterized by a power spectral density function (PSDF), an envelope function, and a cross PSDF which represents spatial correlation between ground motions at different points along the line of wave propagation. Soil-structure interaction is considered, which gives rise to a non-classically damped system. A numerical study is conducted to investigate the response behaviour of the pipeline.
