The effect of implementing family-centered empowerment model based on mucosal management on the psychological dimension of parents with children with cancer

Introduction: Given the importance of quality of life for parents with children with cancer due to the care and follow-up of children and the impact that treatments and their effects on the psychological dimension of parents, the need to empower them is strongly felt. The aim of this study was to implement the effect of family-centered empowerment model based on mucosal management on the psychological dimension of parents with children with cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Research Methods :This research is a quasi-experimental study that was performed on ۶۰ parents of children with cancer undergoing chemotherapy referred to Kashani Hospital in Shahrekord in ۱۳۰۰-۱۴۹۹. Sampling was easily available, then randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. Empowerment was presented based on the empowerment model of Alhani family in four steps. Demographic information questionnaire, Sf۳۶ quality of life questionnaire was used to collect data. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and analytical statistical tests (frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation and Fisher's exact test) and SPSS software. findings :The results showed that the psychological dimension of parents in the two groups immediately and three months after the intervention was significantly different (p <۰.۰۰۱), so that the psychological dimension of parents in the intervention group (۳۶.۸۷ ± ۶.۵۰) compared to the control group (۱۳.۹۰ ۱۳ ۲.۸۹) had a significant increase (p <۰.۰۰۱). Conclusion: The results of this study showed that family-centered empowerment improved the psychological dimension of parents of children with cancer.
