Analysis and Function of Fish Scales as a Structural Coating in Improving Space Performance

The structure of fish scales (as a natural form found in nature) has been among the mostinfluential sources of inspiration over the centuries for human beings to achieveacceptable solutions to live more comfortably. Scales cover a large part of the fish's bodywhich protect their body and help them to swim more easily. In this paper, a simplifiedyet robust computational analysis of the flexibility of the fish scale’s structure is used toachieve a shell design for structural coating which allows us to create the opening andclosing shelf frequently in different conditions. Fish ability to respond quickly to stimulihas inspired us in this research to use a descriptive-analytical method utilizing the libraryand digital documents. The purpose is to design a distinctive structure for more humaninteraction with nature and to improve structural performance in space, to the flexibility,light weight of the structure, and its effecting on the atmosphere of the space. Creatingthis coating structure of a variety of elements and complexities could not be achievedwithout the help of ۳D models and Grasshopper software.
