چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most current endocrine disorder in women of childbearing age and the most common cause of infertility without ovulation that cannot be diagnosed with apparent symptoms. This study aimed to evaluate the biomarkers of oxidative stress including Nitric oxide (NO) for the diagnosis of PCOS. Methods: The keywords "oxidative stress," "polycystic ovary syndrome," and free radical products such as NO were searched in the PubMed, EMBASE, MEDLINE, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases. All data were analyzed using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis V۳ software. Results: ۱۳ observational studies from ۱۹۹۵ to ۲۰۲۲ with a sample size of ۷۲۱ women were reviewed and showed that change Nitric oxide levels in women with PCOS. Result showed a significantly lower NO level (SMD= -۰.۵۹; ۹۵% CI, -۱.۱۵, -۰/۰۳; P= ۰.۰۰۰; I۲ > ۷۵%) in the PCOS group compared with the control. In addition, meta-regression showed that relationship was found between BMI and NO level (P= ۰.۰۲)Conclusion: Monitoring of specific free-radical product biomarkers such as NO might be beneficial to the diagnosis and prognosis of PCOS.
