چکیده مقاله:

Today, over ۲۰ years have passed since the launch of child-friendly cities initiative. However, proper practices are not yet sufficient and children are disappearing more and more frequently in the density and the chaos of the cities. So designed areas must be capable of meeting children’s needs and desires and making positive contributions to their development. With these problems in mind, this article aims to provide an overview of studies discussing landscape design strategies with an emphasis on child-friendly cities. Scientific evidence demonstrates that giving children the opportunity to speak out about the community and participate in decision-making would benefit planners in coming up with ideas on how to make spaces more useful for children, better provide opportunities for physical activity, and ultimately enhance the well-being of children. Children’s participatory design approach will foster children's mental and social health by allowing them to be a contributor to society, enhancing their belongingness, and helping them feel their opinions are important.
