چکیده زمینه و هدف: افسردگی تجربه حالت ناشادی است که تحمل آن دشوار است. هدف از این مطالعه، بررسی ویژگی های روان سنجی پایایی (Reliability) و روایی (Validity) آزمون مقیاس افسردگی کودکان رینولدز Reynolds child depression scale; RCDS)) در دانش آموزان ابتدایی شهر تهران بود. مواد و روش ها: در این مطالعه مقطعی، پرسش نامه های RCDS و CDI بر روی ۳۷۰ نفر از دانش آموزان مقطع ابتدایی شهر تهران که به روش نمونه برداری تصادفی چندمرحله ای انتخاب شدند، به اجرا گذاشته شد. برای بررسی اعتبار درونی پرسش نامه از روش آلفای کرونباخ و برای بررسی روایی همگرایی آزمون RCDS، نمرات حاصل از پرسش نامه RCDS و CDI  با استفاده از ماتریس همبستگی Pearson مورد محاسبه قرار گرفت. جهت بررسی روایی، از پرسش نامه افسردگی کودکان Child depression inventory; CDI)) استفاده شد. یافته ها: ضریب آلفای کرونباخ برابر با ۸۳/۰، به دست آمده با استفاده از چرخش واریماکس (Varimax rotation)، نقش چهار عامل عزت نفس و سرزنش خود، نگرانی و نشانه های جسمانی، فقدان احساس لذت و روحیه پایین و سردی و احساس بی ارزشی را برجسته نشان داد. همچنین، مشخص شد مقیاس RCDS و CDI دارای همبستگی مثبت و معناداری هستند (۰۰۱/۰p˂). نتایج نشان داد از نظر شیوع افسردگی، تفاوت معناداری در دو جنس دختر و پسر وجود ندارد (۰۰۱/۰p˂) و در نتیجه یک جدول نرم درصدی برای این آزمون تهیه شد. نتیجه گیری: در این مطالعه پایایی و روایی مناسب آزمون RCDS برای بررسی افسردگی در کودکان، مشخص شد. می توان از این آزمون در جهت شناسایی افسردگی در کودکان استفاده کرد که منجر به شناسایی بیماران و بالتبع آن، تسهیل درمان و بهبود سلامت کودکان می شود. واژه های کلیدی: افسردگی، دانش آموزان، پایایی، تهران
