Investigation of Spatio-Temporal Trend of Vegetation Cover in Guilan Province

The development of remote sensing data provides a suitable opportunity to estimate environmental conditions at the regional scale and produces ecological indicators accurately with a reasonable cost. The aim of this study is to investigate the spatio-temporal trend of vegetation cover in Guilan province during ۲۰۰۱-۲۰۲۰ using Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) maps from MOD۱۳A۲ products of MODIS. The Mann-Kendall test was used to determine the trend of EVI. The results showed that the t vegetation cover has decreasing or stable trend in most parts of the province, although, it has an increasing trend in the highland areas of the southeast .Also, the results of the Mann-Kendall test indicated negative values (ZM>۰) in all counties, except Rudsar County. Therefore, it seems necessary to assess and identify the trend of vegetation cover to carry out the various environmental projects such as carbon sequestration projects.
