چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Man is a social being who needs to have relationships with his fellow human beings. The lack of desirable and satisfactory social relationships or the feeling of loneliness has destructive effects on health and quality of life. Feeling alone can have a specific and unique meaning for anyone. For some people, loneliness means not having someone by their side, and they may feel lonely even in a crowd. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of self-encouragement and music therapy on the loneliness of dormitory girls. Methodology: For this purpose, it was a semi-experimental pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The population of the present study was made up of all the girl residents of the' dormitories in Sattar Khan Shiraz, reaching a total of ۱۵۰. They were tested according to Asher's scale (SlFS) in terms of loneliness. The sample consisted of ۴۵ girls who were selected in a purposeful way and randomly assigned to three groups, including two experimental groups and a control group (each group consisted of ۱۵ individuals). The first experimental group received self-encouragement, and the second experimental group received music therapy in eight ۹۰-minute sessions. They received one minute. The subjects in the control group did not receive any intervention until the end of the research process. Covariance analysis and Sheffe's post hoc test were used to analyze the data. Findings: The post-test and follow-up phases revealed a substantial drop in the experimental group's average scores for feeling alone among the dorm girls when compared to the control group. Conclusion: The results of this study provide proper experimental support for music-focused therapy and self-healing treatments. It is suggested that psychologists and counselors use these two approaches to promote mental health. Both self-encouragement and music therapy are effective in reducing feelings of loneliness. However, self-encouragement has a stronger impact on decreasing feelings of loneliness.
