A Comparative Study of Perfectionism and Anxiety among Medical and Psychology Students of the Islamic Azad University of Sistan and Baluchestan

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate and compare perfectionism and anxiety in students of medicine and psychology at Zahedan Azad University. Hypotheses: There is a significant difference between the perfectionism and anxiety of medical and psychology students. There is a significant difference between the anxiety of medical and psychology students. There is a significant difference between the perfectionism of medical and psychology students. Between perfectionism and anxiety in there is a significant relationship between medical and psychology students. Research method: descriptive, correlational and causal comparative. Statistical population: all students of medicine and psychology at Islamic Azad University in ۱۴۰۱. Sampling method: library and questionnaire method. Sample size: ۲۰۰ people (۱۰۰ male students and ۱۰۰ female students). Research tools: Positive and negative perfectionism scale, Terry Short et al., which includes ۳۰ items. Anxiety scale: Spiel Berger’s anxiety measurement questionnaire, which includes ۳۹ questions. The research method was t-test and Pearson's correlations were used to investigate and test the hypotheses. Discussion and conclusion: The results showed that there is no significant difference between the perfectionism of medical and psychology students. There is a significant difference between the anxiety of medical and psychology students. There is a significant relationship between the perfectionism score and the anxiety score among medical and psychology students. Perfectionism can be a predictor of anxiety.
