Investigating the Relationship between the Styles of Attachment on the Communication Patterns of Couples and Family Cohesion

The purpose of this research was to investigate the relationship between the styles of attachment on the communication patterns of couples and family cohesion. The statistical population of the research is ۱۰۰ couples who referred to family counseling centers in Shiraz city, who had been married for two years and were selected by random sampling. To collect information, Collins-Reed's attachment style questionnaires (۱۹۹۰), Christensen and Sulaway's communication patterns (۱۹۸۴) and Samani's family cohesion (۲۰۱۳) were used. The data were analyzed using Pearson's correlation test and regression. The research results showed that there is a significant relationship between attachment styles and couples' communication patterns. Also, secure attachment styles have a significant positive relationship with family cohesion and a significant negative relationship with insecure attachment styles. Therefore, according to the obtained results, it seems necessary to take training courses to know the types of attachment styles and communication patterns for people before marriage.
