چکیده مقاله:

Electrical techniques are wide spread for nano-particle measurements and characterization methods. In order to gain a better understanding of the charging process using corona discharge phenomenon, a numerical simulation algorithm is presented. The numerical two dimensional axisymmetric simulation of the steady-state corona discharge reported herein is based on the single species model of wire and cylinder corona chargers. To this end, we propose a new algorithm designed to work with segregated solvers to satisfy current continuity. Fluent 6.3.26 commercial code is used for the description of the method and the method is implemented via its user defined functions (UDF). This algorithm introduces an auxiliary parameter and derives its boundary conditions from other equations. It features a closed loop iterative procedure to apply a solution-driven boundary condition for the parameter. It also modifies the standard boundary conditions to guarantee overall current continuity. The algorithm does not depend on the software and can be used with any other code. The numerical results for space charge density agree well with one dimensional analytic solution for a simple case which is used as a test. The presented algorithm can also be applied in the numerical simulations of any other type of corona charger.
