Iraqi University Role in Protecting and Supporting Intellectual Security

The paper aims to identify the Iraqi universities role in protecting intellectual security for students from their point of view, and according to the Gender variable (male / female). A questionnaire has been prepared for this purpose and then applied to a sample of (500) students. After doing statistical analysis, the results show the following statements have gained higher mean than others: The university participates in building a sense of citizenship for students, The university aims to building academic character for students, The university works to counter extremism and conflicts between students, The university works to encouraging team work and kindness between students, The University encourages students to freely express opinions and conduct research according to scientific methodology. The results of this paper conclude that Iraqi universities work according to educational strategies and have a cultural and social role that is concerned with the educating youth and protecting them against negative and destructive trends. The statement of The University participates in building a sense of citizenship for students, has the highest percentage of (75%) at the first rank, and the statement The university aims at building the academic character for students, at the second rank with percentage of (74%). The results indicate that there are significant differences for the males in the statement The University seeks to support and promote intellectual creativity , and also significant differences for the females in the statement the university relies on the guidance programs that are interested in the intellectual security of students. The paper also concluded that there was a significant statistical difference in favor of males as they have more active and effective role than females in all the activities and actions that the university performs to support and protect intellectual security.
