چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Squamous cell Carcinoma of esophagus is one of most common cancers ofgastrointestinal tract which have worse prognosis and have high incidence in Iran. One ofprobable prognostic factors of esophagus SCC which have more attention nowadays is mastcell density (MCD) in tumoral tissue. Effect of MCD in prognosis of most human tumors isknown and studies goes on. Mast cells could be target of recently developed chemotherapyagents and this causes increasing studies in this subject.Methods: In this study 78 patient with SCC of esophagus in pT=3 selected and MCD countedwith toluidine blue staining and relationship with survival were analyzed. Patient comparedin identical groups of lymph node involvement and post surgery complementary therapy.Results: there was significant decrease in survival in patients with high MCD with Kaplan-Meier Method. P<0.001 these relation also found in the identical groups of lymph nodeinvolvement and post surgery therapies.Conclusion: The results of current study are indicative of high MCD in invasive edge oftumor causes progression of tumor and decrease survival after surgery.
