چکیده مقاله:

Nowadays, high strength and lightweight aluminum alloys are of particular interest for aerospace and automotive industries. Powder metallurgy (PM) has opened up a great opportunity to develop Al matrix nanocomposites which their properties meet the requirements of automotive sector while the processing cost is competitive with other manufacturing routes. This paper presents recent advances in processing of various Al matrix composites and nanocomposites by non-conventional shaping methods. Cyclic compaction of Al powder containing various concentrations of reinforcing particles with different sizes are presented. The effect of hard ceramic particles on the supersolidus liquid phase sintering of compacted aluminum alloys is shown. The extrudability of loss aluminum powder containing reinforcing particles are demonstrated. The mechanical properties of PM Al matrix nanocomposites at room and elevated temperatures are reported. Finally, the potential and drawbacks of utilizing PM Al matrix nanocomposites for automotive sector is elaborated.
