چکیده مقاله:

Carcharhinus macloti is a shark species occurs in the Gulf of Oman. In examining the intestines of the specimens from this shark species, a new cestode species belonging to the genus Phoreiobothrium was discovered. This new species in its possession of a combination of 12-14 subloculi and 5-8 columns of testes is different from the other species of the genus. There are tiny projections with different structures on the surface of the cestode species, which, in addition to the physiologic role for the animal homeostasis, are taxonomically important too. Such structures are called microtriches, which can only be observed using scanning electron microscopy. Hence, the microtriches of the new species are described. The apex of the scolex, anterior muscular pad of each bothridium and proximal and distal surfaces of both loculi of the bothridium are only covered with the papilliform filitriches. The surface of the cephalic peduncle, as well as all the proglottids, are covered with the gladiate spinitriches interspersed with the papilliform filitriches. The existence of a species of Phoreiobothrium is reported for the first time within this study
