چکیده مقاله:

The predictions of the drilling fluid performance, especially in deviated wells that have abnormal profiles or drilling through sensitive clays are important. These types of wells are drilled with oil-based fluids or water based fluids. However, there are environmental limitations for these fluids, especially in offshore that should be cutting transport to onshore. The drilling fluid produces waste and must be disposed according to local environmental regulations. Therefore, an environmentally-friendly drilling fluids, which is biodegradability and renewable and cost-effective, is needed. Synthetic based fluid systems are one of the options that make these conditions. These fluids are derived from nature and reduce the time and cost of drilling by about half and not have any environmental risk. Olive oil is one of those types of fluids. Drilling fluid derived from olive oil is an effective option for solving drilling challenges. These fluids prevent clay swellings and prevent borehole instability, and, on the other hand, the proper viscosity of these fluids caused cutting removal of the well. The acid molecules in the olive oil create oxygen bonding to the bentonite in the hydrogen bond and prevent the swelling of the clay.
